Ingredients — The Foundation of Sustainable Skincare

Sustainable skincare starts with what goes inside the bottle. We source over 50% of our ingredients locally from Finland, with full traceability back to each farm.

When local Finnish sourcing isn't possible, we choose Fair Trade certified ingredient suppliers — even when it means higher ingredient costs. We believe that sustainable skincare cannot stop at environmental responsibility. The people who grow and harvest our ingredients deserve fair wages and dignified working conditions, regardless of where in the world they are.

Fair Trade is a choice we make at every sourcing decision, not a label we carry. It is a commitment that our supply chain does not benefit from exploitation, even indirectly.

We use only pure, natural ingredients in their whole form — such as cold pressed organic oils — at food-grade quality rather than cosmetic grade. Cold pressing preserves the active compounds, antioxidants, and essential fatty acids that heat or chemical extraction would destroy. No hexane, no industrial bleaching, no shortcuts.

Waterless Skincare — 90% of Our Products Contain No Added Water

Most conventional skincare products list water — "aqua" — as their very first ingredient. Mainstream skin and body products contain anywhere from 80 to 95% water, meaning the active ingredients being marketed to consumers are heavily diluted and therefore less effective. Water also creates a problem: it creates an ideal environment for bacteria, yeast, and mold to grow, which is why water-based skincare relies heavily on preservatives to remain shelf-stable and safe. At Niki Newd, we have taken a different path. Around 90% of our products are waterless — formulated without any added water. Only two products in our range contain water as an ingredient. This means:

Packaging with a Purpose — Our packaging is designed with one goal: the least material possible, with the most protection possible. Products ship directly in delivery boxes — no extra cardboard layers or plastic wrap. All materials are fully recyclable.
Biophotonic Glass Technology — For containers, we use biophotonic glass, which filters harmful light to protect the active compounds in natural ingredients, extending freshness and reducing spoilage. Unlike clear glass or plastic, biophotonic glass does the work of preservation without chemical additives — and as a 100% recyclable material, it is designed to re-enter the material cycle rather than end up in landfill.
Responsible Logistics — Domestic deliveries are carried by Posti — the world's first logistics company to have its net-zero targets approved by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). International shipments are handled through verified carbon neutral shipping partners. Our own climate targets are guided by SBTi methodology, committing us to emission reductions aligned with limiting global warming to 1.5°C — not just offsetting what we emit.
